The ACL Executive Committee has voted to significantly change ACL's approach to protecting anonymous peer review.
As a result, no anonymity period will be required for papers submitted to ACL for the Feb 15, 2024 deadline. The submissions themselves must still be fully anonymized. However, authors may publicly post and discuss versions of the work elsewhere under their own names. Authors are cautioned not to overpublicize the work, since before accepting the paper, ACL will want to find qualified reviewers who can vouch for the submission without knowing who wrote it.
To learn about the details of the policy change and the reasons behind it, please read the report at:

ACL thanks the working group that spent several months considering this issue and writing this report.
